Commodity Corner 4/3/2026

General Market- Lumber sales continued to be good and supplies tightened pushing prices higher for the 5th week in a row. Trucks continued to be tough to find extending lead times. 2 x 4 #2 SPF was again the most active. Pine & imported plywood activity continued to be good. Fir plywood activity spiked this week. OSB activity was much of the same. OSB prices are flat. Pine plywood prices are up, and fir plywood prices are up.

Spruce – Western Spruce lumber demand was good again this week. Prices: 2x4 +$5, 2x6 +$5, 2 x 8 +$6, 2 x 10 +$5, & 2 x 12 Flat/mbf. Eastern SPF sales were slightly slower but supplies remained tight & freight issues persisted. Prices: +$5/mbf.
DG/Portbec - Sales were good again. Lead times moved out again on 2 x 4 #2! 2 x 4-2 x 6 r/l Prices: +$5 to +$10/mbf, 2 x 8 +$5, 2 x 10 +$5/mbf. Stud Prices: Flat to +$15/mbf. 2 x 4 #2 Sales were especially brisk. Some 2 x 4 # 2 items moved out to the week of 4/27! Most items shipping w/o 4/20.

Inland White Fir – White Fir activity was steady, market stronger. Prices: Flat to +$10/mbf.

Studs – Western Spruce stud sales were good again this week. Prices: $5 to +$10/mbf. Eastern SPF Studs were in demand. Prices: +$5 to +$10/mbf. Fir Stud sales were steady. Prices: Flat to +$10/mbf.
Boards- Eastern Pine sales were good. Prices: Flat/mbf.

Treated: Treated Lumber prices rose again this week across the board +$15/m. Demand still seems to be strong, and freight is becoming more of an issue. We had a decent week out of warehouse, and on directs. No issues on the supply side and lead times remain a week or sooner on direct loads.

OSB- OSB demand continued to be off. Prices: Flat/msf.

Southern Pine/Imported Plywood – Southern Pine & Imported Plywood demand remained steady! ¾” was in the biggest demand! Trucking issues continued to cause delivery delays. Prices: +$4 to +$5/msf.
​
Western Fir Plywood – Fir Plywood sales continued to pick up noticeably. Fir contuinues to a great value especially with tightening pine & import supply! Some fir mills are off the market. Prices: Flat to +$17/msf.
